    Tetramolopium capillare is a plant in the Aster family. It is indigenous to Hawaii, primarily Maui. The plant is listed on the Federal Registry of Endangered plants. There are only 4 colonies with a total population of only 200 plants. Pamakani is a low spreading shrub that may grow to 31 inches. The plant is found in shrubland, chaparral and on slopes and ridges.
    The plant has many branches, either erect or decumbent. The leaves are glossy green, attached with a pronounced petiole and simple and alternate. Each branch terminates in an inflorescence. The flowers are clustered in panicles of 5 to 60 small rayed flowers enclosed in 3 to 4 outwardly curving bracts. The ray flowers occur in 13 to 250 individuals er head with disc flowers numbering up to 110. The corolla is tube shaped, purple, pink or white, and 5 lobed. The fruit is an achene, oval with a pointed end, and having up to 6 ribs.
