    Smallflower Chastetree is also called Molave or Tugas tree. The plant belongs to the Verbena family. It is an herbaceous perennial small tree to large shrub native to the Philippines. It occurs in secondary and primary forests in low altitudes and forms thickets in dryer forest zones.
    Vitex parviflora has very hard wood and may reach heights of 26 to 50 feet with a spreading crown. Stems have smooth bark. Leaves are palmate and divided into 3 leaflets on a stout petiole. Leaflets are lance shaped to oval, 2 to 7 inches long, serrated along the edges, light green and shiny. Leaves drop in the dry season. The inflorescence is borne in loose panicles on terminal stems that may reach 7 inches long. Blooming does not occur until plants are 5 to 6 years old. Each flower is hairy, blue and tiny, perfect or bisexual. The fruit is a small rounded drupe, buish black at maturity and containing 1 to 4 seeds. Seeds are black, oval to elliptical and germinate 10 to 40 days after sowing.
    Vitex parviflora prefers limestone soil but can grow in almost any soil situation.
